They run, jump, and dance with us
When they feel like it
When they need to
Do you know them? him? her?
They are a pain as much as a joy
They talk, laugh and make merry
They say you are the best
You are all they have, and
You’ll forget all they’ve done
But…
What have they done?
Wanting to share your space, when they need it
Wanting to hug you when they feel like it
Do you need them?
Who doesn’t once ask how you are
For they are busy with their life,
Who doesn’t once call for a chat
For they are busy meeting deadlines,
Do you know him? her? them?
So…
What have they done?
Focussing on their dreams, forgetting to wish you
Offering help when it suits them
Do you need them?
Who only sings me, me and more of me?
