Mom’s blessing

The widow hugged her son as he left in pursuit of greener pastures.

She lived for his daily evening calls.

After a year, he said, “I’m married!”

Two years later… “You are a grandma!” She blessed him.

One evening she said, “Don’t waste money asking about me. I’m fine if I know you are happy.”

Thereafter, every evening she only said -“God Bless son” – when he said ‘Bye’.

One day he arrived to surprise her. He hid outside and called.

His neighbour came, placed a recorder before the receiver and left.

Dejected he sat down with his pen and diary…

  16. Really heartbreaking. We run behind money and materialistic success so much so that we forget our loved ones who are left behind :/.
